It was just twenty minutes ago that I was still sitting here at the computer this morning, debating if I really, honestly and truly wanted to give NaBloPoMo a go.  I mean, actually committing to a post a day?  What am I thinking!?

I’m thinking that I miss getting all this dialogue out of my head and onto the computer screen, and that in order to get back to it, I need to find those little snippets of time during the day to do so.  So here I am.  Day one of NaBloPoMo, which commits me to 30 days of daily blogging.

I do have things to say and pictures to share!  In fact, at this moment I am on day 8 of a 10 day vegan diet and I am feeling fantastic health-wise.  I may be talking about that once or twice.

But today I thought I’d share a few pictures.  Once again, Trick-Or-Treating has been good to my kids.  We had a friend come treat with us this year and her mom was aghast at the amount of candy her daughter had collected.  We have a very generous neighborhood- and four hours in which to plunder them for their sugary goodies. Here the kids are in their costumes.  Abigail went as an 80’s Biker Chick, and Zander is obviously a Red Angry Bird.

This picture above is Abigail’s candy stash.  She only ate one piece last night before The Great Sort took place.

And this stash is Zander’s.   He consumed a few pieces before sorting his candy out.

As I write this, they are beginning their school day by counting up the individual types of candy, and then they will each make a graph.  As the week goes on, we will also use this information to work on probability and percentages.

You’d be surprised how long this candy will last them.  Andy and I tend to be pretty good at not dipping into their candy stash unless they offer us a piece.  We’ve thrown out candy gathered at Halloween come Easter time- when the candy stash is usually replenished with different kinds of candy.  In the past I have used candy in baked goods, but to be honest, I don’t really care for it.  I’d rather just eat a candy bar straight up if I’m going to indulge.

And since I have three days left on this vegan diet, it also means the candy is safe from me anyway.
