Today is Monday, the 22nd of November, and your turkey should be moved from the freezer to the fridge by today at the latest.
If you still haven’t bought your turkey, do it today and get it in the fridge to thaw, or you’ll have issues come Thanksgiving morning when you go to put your turkey in the oven.
We’re doing two turkeys this year- one in the oven and one on the grill. Both will be brined with this wonderful recipe for Cider Brined and Glazed Turkey from Bon Appetit magazine. I pulled the turkeys from the freezer yesterday and put them in a large cooler to begin to thaw. It didn’t occur to me until last week that this would be the first year I am hosting a large Thanksgiving dinner without an extra fridge. This should be fun, thawing and then brining two birds in a camping cooler.
Hopefully it won’t be too cold in the screen porch this week so that we can use it as a walk-out.
Funny that you mentioned this today as I was just telling a co-worker this morning that she shouldn’t wait until tomorrow to start defrosting her turkey! She thought she only needed a day and is now going to get it into the fridge today.
