I have some delicious dips to share with you this week, but right now, I have apples on my mind. We have a surplus of wonderfully delicious apples in our possession, and I’m really enjoying using them up. It seemed like this would be the perfect time to take you through a few recipes I have in the Recipe Trove to help you use up your extra apples.
First thing this morning, I baked up a loaf of this amazing Dutch Apple Quick Bread. Once you try this quick bread, you’ll never try another apple bread again!
Then I peeled and sliced up a pot full of apples to be melted into a delicious rustic applesauce. The apples I’m working with are both sweet and tart, so it only took a bare sprinkle of sugar to sweeten the sauce to perfection. A touch of cinnamon, and I have a very happy family. Okay, so there isn’t really a recipe to this- chop apples, add just tablespoon or two of water to the pot to keep the apples from sticking, add a cover, and simmer away. Add sugar and cinnamon to taste. If you’ve never had homemade applesauce, it’s a real revelation!
Maybe pie is more your style? Then don’t miss this Warm Buttermilk Apple Pie– it’s on the menu very soon in my kitchen.
Fall is certainly not complete without a pan or two of Two Pan Apple Crisp! The beauty of this recipe is that you can eat one now, and freeze one for those frigid February snow days.
Andy would never forgive me if I let apple season slip by without making this delightful Gooey Apple Sheet Cake.
Maybe you’d like something a little more savory? This Honey-Dijon Pork Roast simmered on a bed of apples and onions is perfect for a busy afternoon.
Perhaps you’re after something new to spice up your breakfast repertoire. This Baked Oatmeal is loaded with apples and dried fruit and is a great way to start your day all week long- bake it up once and store it in the fridge all week.
No matter what your preference is, apple season is fully underway- don’t let it pass you by without enjoying one of our favorite seasonal fruits.
Yes, you are right…you don’t want to miss the apples…your apple bread looks terrific…I will try to make it using my bread machine 🙂
Juliana, that bread was so tasty, it disappeared in a flash. I don’t know why I don’t make it more often!
