These Sesame Chicken Party Wings have been on my radar for a long time.  In fact, I have no idea how long they’ve been on my radar, nor where the recipe came from.  But let me tell you, these chicken wings rival any honey BBQ chicken wing we’ve ever had out.  We all inhaled these wings, and there wasn’t even one left on the platter when our family of four had finished our meal.  These wings would be excellent for a party- you could cook them ahead of time and then hold them in a crock pot set on the warm setting and they’d probably keep for hours.  One of my favorite things to make for a party or a large gathering IS a crock of bbq chicken wings, but I confess freely that I usually just buy them from Sam’s pre-made in a big bag.  Not anymore.

These wings are sweet, slightly salty and just full of bbq goodness.  The marinade comes together in seconds, and while you certainly could follow the instructions and let the marinade sink in for 4 hours, you could also take a shortcut and use a foodsaver marinator to do the trick in about 20 minutes.  I was also thinking that this would make an excellent dump chicken recipe.  You could make the marinade, drop in your wings, and then freeze.  Allow to thaw in the fridge overnight and then proceed with the recipe as written.  As an appetizer this would probably stretch to feed about 10 people, with a few wings apiece.  As an entree, it was just a touch too much for our little family, accompanied by a salad and some brussels sprouts.  Andy took one for the team though and managed to finish off the last two wings so we wouldn’t have leftovers.

Did I mention that these are really good? I mean, really good and sweet and barbecuey.  We certainly don’t need to go out for BBQ wings ever again when I can make them like this at home.

  1. Yummmmm. They sound very much like the “La Brea Tar Pit Wings” from the Gourmet Cookbook. I made a batch of them last week when my parents were here and we just had them and a salad for dinner. I love the whole sticky, salty, sweet thing.

    Love the new site!

  2. Lia,my kids were both disappointed that we didn’t have wings again last night, so I guess they were definitely a winner. Just the name “La Brea Tar Pit Wings” sounds so gooey and sticky- yum!

Patsyk, these were so good- and really easy to make too! Let me know if you try them!
