This morning before I sent Abigail off to school I packed her a cold lunch from home.  Most often, she chooses to eat the school lunch with her friends, but every once in a while, she looks at the menu and decides that something Mommy packs would taste much better.  Elsewhere in the world though, there are children who don’t even have that choice.  Imagine sending your child off to school, knowing that they won’t have a morsel to eat all day long, yet that education is so important, that you send them anyway.  Meanwhile, you’re looking at your own foodstores, praying that you have enough to make one meal today for the entire family.  Where tomorrow’s meal will come from, you have no idea yet.

The UN World Food Programme is the largest food agency in the world.  Not only do they provide food to hungry people, but they also offer education and assistance to help people become self-sustaining.  They teach them how to grow vegetable gardens, as an example.  Specifically this year, Menu For Hope V is going to continue to support the school lunch program in the country of Lesotho. Last year, Menu For Hope raised almost $100,000 dollars for the program in Lesotho, and over the next week or so, Pim of Chez Pim will be giving us updates on the people we’ve helped this past year.

The best part about donating to Menu For Hope V is that not only do you get a chance to donate to a fantastic cause, but you also get a raffle entry for every $10 that you donate.  The list of raffle prizes this year is spectacular and ranges from chef and restaurant experiences to cookbooks and bento gear.  So many generous food bloggers have banded together to make this year’s Menu For Hope one for the books.

Please consider a donation to Menu For Hope V this year.  You can find the list of raffle prizes at Chez Pim, right here, and at the bottom of the raffle list you will find the instructions for making a donation through Firstgiving.  The campaign is running through Christmas, and the winners of the raffle will be announced on January 12.
