One of the things that I love about Easter time is the Easter candy. My favorite all-time treat is a Cadbury Creme Egg. I just love them, milk chocolate, gooey uber-sweet center, all wrapped up in a neat little package. Every year at Easter time I treat myself to just a few of these sugary treats. Last year, Cadbury unveiled the latest incarnation of the creme egg, the Orange Creme Egg. I searched high and low for these things to no avail- they were not to be had.
So yesterday when I was in Walgreen’s and spied them on the top shelf next to the regular Cadbury Creme Eggs, I snagged two and happily went on my way. I adore orange and chocolate, and I adore Cadbury Creme Eggs- how could these be bad? Well, they simply couldn’t. I found them completely delicious. Super sweet, but with a luscious orange syrup that went perfectly with the milk chocolate. The orange syrup, by itself reminded me a lot of cough medicine, but with the creme and the chocolate, it was great. They were worth the wait, and if I see them again I will certainly think about picking one up.
I’m with you — I love Cadbury Cream Eggs! I haven’t had one yet. But I’ll stick with the original. I can’t hack that chocolate/orange combo.
I haven’t had a plain one yet this year. I’ll need to fix that. The orange were hard to find, so I don’t expect I’ll see one again this year.
My weakness is the smaller chocolate Cadbury eggs – the pastel ones that look like robin’s eggs. I LOVE those – I did refrain from buying them at the store today, though. I fear I would eat the whole bag in one sitting. 🙂
Those are good too! Easter is by far the best candy holiday as far as I’m concerned, so I really have a hard time staying away from the candy aisle this time of year.
