First off, a congratulations to Joan Skoglund, who won the first ever giveaway here at Tummy Treasure! Joan, I’ve sent you an e-mail, let’s get in touch and I’ll get your new book in the mail to you straightaway! If you missed the giveaway, or Great Party Fondues just didn’t trip your trigger, be sure to check in from time to time, as I rather enjoy the idea of giving a few things away here, and I’m sure that won’t be the last.
I have a bit of a busy day on tap ahead, what with unpacking from a weekend and all the certain laundry to be done, but I did want to share some photos from our time at RenFest. As the kids get older, it gets more fun each year to go- they don’t tire as easily wandering from place to place. The weather cooperated for us, giving us a bit of a drizzle only when we sat to watch the quatrain- a horse demonstration that we all enjoyed.
First, here is Zander, proudly displaying his sword and shield that he bough for himself. He now calls himself Link, from the ever popular Zelda video game series, and has asked if I can find him green clothes so he can eb Link for Halloween this year.
Next, here is Abigail dancing with a belly dancer. She bought the coin shawl and then just a few minutes later we came upon the belly dancers. Abigail was dancing to the side, jingling away, when this very nice dancer beckoned her up onto the stage and taught her a few things. They danced for quite a while, and Abigail had a blast!!
And of course, what trip to a festival would be complete without some food? Something that we’ve noticed is that there really isn’t anything bad at this festival- all the food is really good, it’s just difficult to make a choice in the first place. We failed to take pictures of the turtles and the chocolates we munched on shortly after our little lunch break, but they really were very good too.
The surprise of the day was the plain chicken wings. These were excellent- lightly breaded, very crispy and simply delicious.
I was a little cool from getting drizzled on, so a nice bread bowl with some wild rice soup was in order.
Deep fried cheese. What could be bad about that? These were a very generous portion size as well.
Food-On-A-Stick. There were many different varieties of this to choose from. Andy really enjoyed this one, and wished they were twice the size, they were so good.
There’s something for everyone here- even this Teriyaki chicken bowl looked really good.
Ah, the bangers. I had this last year, and am reminded that I still haven’t tried to re-create this spectacular looking sausage at home. It’s simply wrapped in a pastry of some kind, but it’s so good.
And to wrap up the pictures, here is one from the front of the festival. We’ve been going to this thing for four years now, and we really enjoy it every time we go. One of these years, maybe we’ll get the nerve to dress ourselves up for this thing, but it’s just as enjoyable to see everyone else dressed up. If you have an opportunity, by all means, get thyself to a Renaissance Festival, they’re so much fun, and there’s so much to see.
That looks like the fair I used to go to just over the WI border when I lived in IL. I love RenFairs, and dressing up is so much fun, you should try it!
Vicki, we’ve never been to the one in Bristol, and were just saying that we should check it out sometime.
One of the things that keeps us from dressing up is the heat… in the dead of summer with layers of fabric on is not appealing, but this weekend, most of those costumes looked comfy!
