I don’t really have a recipe to share today, we had a bit of an easy weekend in the kitchen, nothing super exciting really. I did do a bit of seed starting though and I just wanted to take a minute to encourage all of my blog readers to consider planting something edible this year. The blogosphere is all abuzz over the plans to turn a portion of White House lawn into a garden- and I am just as excited about it as everyone else. I just wish I had that kind of space to work with! Even better, according to the Burpee website, a well-planned garden can mean extensive savings. They say that with $50 for seeds and fertilizer, and a well-planned space, you can produce over $1200 worth of produce- that’s incredible! I say if you know a gardener or two, you can do even better than $50, because they’re always willing to share tips and information, seeds and plants when available.
Anyway, I just think everyone should really think about it. Sometimes they can be a bit of work, but really, as long as you keep it a manageable size, they’re not as much work as you would think. And you should think about it soon, because gardening is hot, hot, hot, and seeds are in demand this year! Even though it’s much too early to be getting seeds in the ground here in Wisconsin, the seed packets are flying off the shelves. So get some soon, plant them, and be happy.
