We’re very tired… The kids are already snoring away upstairs, with literal visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads. They love the Nutcracker so much. I love hearing what parts they loved watching best, what parts they hope to get next year, and what parts they’d maybe love down the road.
Andy is still out dismantling a set and cleaning up the high school of our debris. I was going to try and wait up a little while and see if they’ll get done quickly. But you know, I’m quite tired. I’ve had a few late nights sewing costume repairs, and then an early morning this morning as I had baking to do for the potluck today, and I’m just plain wiped out.
So here’s the only pictures we managed to snag this year. Bad Mom forgot to bring the camera along today.
This one’s of my party dancers. Abigail hates wearing dresses, and yet every time she’s cast as a party dancer she loves the dresses! She’s so funny sometimes.
And this one is of my Twirlygigs. Twirlygigs aren’t in many productions of the Nutcracker, but they sure add flair and a whole lot of fun. They dance to the Dance Of The Reed Flutes, which is usually where Marzipan does a solo or the Merlitons join her. We don’t have a Marzipan or the Merlitons. We have Twirlygigs, and it’s a huge production of all ages- from the B/T/J littles to the pointe girls. Way fun. Abigail’s been a Twirlygig for… I think 3 years now. It may be four. She’s ready to not be a twirly, but I sure enjoyed seeing both my kids in the same scene.
This year Abigail was a Party Dancer, Twirlygig and a Wooden Soldier. Zander was a Party Dancer, Battle Soldier, Snowflake and a Twirlygig. He thought four parts was a bit much for him, but they both did an incredible job. I’m one very proud mama tonight.
It was a great weekend, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
